“I was drawn to integrative medicine because—simply put—it makes sense. Combining both traditional and holistic tools allows us to understand and support the whole person, not just the symptoms. I love having the time and space to connect with patients, have meaningful conversations, and dig deeper to uncover the root of what’s really going on.”
My Background
My path to becoming a Nurse Practitioner wasn’t a straight line, but it was absolutely the right one. I started at Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!) with a degree in Psychology, planning to become a child life specialist. But during my final semester, I had a moment of clarity: I wanted to be a nurse. That pivot led me to earn my BSN and begin my career on a med-surg floor, though my heart was always set on pediatrics (which is why I’m so excited to finally be working with the littles!).
Over time, I found myself craving deeper connections with patients, more opportunities to learn, and the ability to guide care in a more comprehensive way. That blend of curiosity, compassion, and yes, a bit of type-A energy, is what inspired me to become a Nurse Practitioner. It’s been a winding road, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
After experiencing what it’s like to feel rushed in my own healthcare visits, I’ve made a personal promise: my patients will never feel that way with me. I may be early in my career, but I bring a fresh perspective, genuine curiosity, and deep compassion to every visit.
My 4 month old and I have been seeing Emma for a couple of months now and we absolutely love it. She’s the first Dr to actually listen to my needs and help me without judgment.
