Professional Experience & Credentials
Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP)
Master’s in Nursing: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Specialty: Mental Health
“I’m dedicated to treating the whole person, not just their symptoms. My approach involves looking at your entire life—medical history, lifestyle, and personal experiences—to craft a plan that truly fits your needs. I believe in being open and relatable with my patients, creating a supportive and understanding environment. My mission is to help you live your best life, with a commitment to bringing smiles and laughter while providing top-notch care.”
My Background
I started in healthcare at 19, working as a CNA in Iowa City. After moving back to Des Moines, I began nursing school at Mercy and worked at Mercy Hospital. Life threw me some curveballs, including struggling with undiagnosed ADHD and losing my hospital job. But I didn’t give up. In 2011, I dove into the Surgical Technologist program at DMACC and found my stride.
After working with Dr. Jeffrey Davick at Des Moines Orthopedic Surgeons, I was diagnosed with ADHD, which reignited my passion for healthcare. I returned to nursing school, balancing it with overnight shifts as a surgical tech at Methodist West Hospital’s OB unit. My experiences, including battling postpartum depression after having my daughter, Betty, solidified my desire to focus on mental health.
I completed my Bachelor’s in Nursing in 2017, then pursued a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, specializing in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at the University of Iowa. I joined Integrative Family Medicine in September 2021, bringing my diverse background and personal insights into my practice.
Danielle is wonderful! For the first time in a long time I feel heard. She’s attentive and empathetic and has helped not only me, but my family tremendously. Highly recommend!
